master classes

An updated schedule of panels on the Writers' Conference website now has more information about our two masters classes on Saturday afternoon. These are workshop classes focused on fine-tuning your craft.

At 2 pm join best-selling author and editor Sol Stein to discuss the Actors' Studio method for generating conflict and how to write foolproof dialogue.

At 4 pm join poet, author, and faculty member of the New School Susan Mesmer to learn how to overcome writer's block and create new material when you think you cannot.

birth of a book panels - updated!

Joining Joshua Ferris, a recipient of Barnes and Noble’s Discover Great New Authors Award, to discuss the publication of his book THEN WE CAME TO THE END will be his agent, Julie Barer, from Barer Literary LLC; his editor, Reagan Arthur, from Little, Brown; the publicist for the book, Marlena Bittner; and Mark Kohut, a publishing consultant, who will be moderating the panel.

Joining Charles Bock to discuss the publication of his book BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN will be his editor, David Ebershoff, at Random House; the publicist for the book, Jynne Martin; and Alex Steele from the Gotham Writers' Workshop, who will be moderating the panel.
